I bought this phone as a present for my wife. The purchase included the phone and 600 minutes. I was optimistic reading a generally very positive evaluation. The telephone is well built; however, it is not something special. It is equipped with everything that older people need in their everyday life. I agree with some reviewers that the browser/right soft key is a failure of the engineering manager responsible for the telephone design. On the other hand, it is easy not to make a mistake of unintentional use of this key as the browser access by reading the info above the key. In conclusion, I like the telephone very much.
Now, I will share my opinion on the registration/activation process at TracFone. I used the internet to do it. It was a positive experience until I needed to speak to the customer service people. The two ladies, a service person and her supervisor were very offensive. I asked for help concerning the 600 minutes included in the contract that did not appear on the telephone after the registration. At first, the ladies told me that I entered wrong key numbers. In fact, the numbers were taken from the telephone and the card sent to me by the seller; therefore, they could not be wrong. In the end the supervisor told me that the TracFone key (for 600 minutes) was used a day earlier for another customer. She immediately accused me of giving the key to someone. Why she acted in that way is difficult to understand. Maybe she had never attended a very common in the USA and in Europe customer-relation training - obligatory for all supervisors from the customer service departments in the USA. In other words, she did not want to hear my explanation and decided to categorize me as a suspected thief. Therefore, I decided to return the telephone to Amazon.
Amazon contacted me immediately. I learned that Amazon has to give the provider of the telephone 3 days to resolve the problem. If the problem is not concluded in 3 days, Amazon will recharge my credit card for the full amount that I paid. The solution came in hours. The explanation is here:
"Good afternoon. We noticed that you submitted a return request due to the issue with your PIN number. We have had a few e-mail addresses removed up due to a server problem and we can go ahead and the airtime for you to your phone. If you please provide us the phone number to your t404g and we will get this taken care of for you today. If you still want to return the phone just let us know. Thank you and you have my apologies for the mix-up with the order. Thank you."
The 600 minutes were added almost immediately.
General conclusion: Amazon is a great company to work with. In contrast, some people from the TracFone customer service department need to be educated to know that in the USA "the customer is always right" even when he/she makes mistakes. The telephone is worth the money that I paid for. The browser key should be relocated as an independent one.

I have owned 3-4 tracfones but this is the cream of the crop for a tracfone. Yes, there is a cheap android phone for Tracfone but I heard it has touch sensitivity issue. So no thanks. Love the qwerty keyboard. A big upgrade for me. The qwerty keys lights up so I am not sure why one comment mentioned too dark to type. It is extremely bright to see the keys. Love the fact that you can reassign functions to the 4 directional buttons. The directional buttons is basically the outer ring of the ok button on the main phone, not the qwerty ok button. I can assign it to apps and games, new text message and other functions. You are not free to reassign to ANY functions but the choices are many. (Maybe around 12?) I reassign one so I can access the tone/vibration function in one click. People mention about accidentally hitting the browsing button. I did that initially but as long as you are not going at hyper speed, you will not hit the button too often. Make sure you lock the keypad when not in use. It has a dedicated button for texting and camera and volume. Camera is decent. The resolution on the screen is far more superior then the previous tracfone I had. Make sure you only get a 4gb Microsd card and nothing over. Phone will only register 4gb available. If you pop in a 8gb card, it will say that there are only 4gb available. It will show that it's a 8gb card but the software glitch is its 4gb limit. Have not try the music mp3 player function but so far, all the games I've downloaded output very good sound quality. The default game download link is a site set up by gameloft and sponsor by tracfone I believe. What's interesting is that you buy the games with your minutes. Since I got triple minutes plus the freebie minutes from tracfone code, I had like over 700min to start with. The game selection is poor though. There are like 12 games to choose from. Gameloft really makes quality apps, including ones for iPad. I downloaded uno and I was impressed with the graphics and sound. So if you have some leftover minutes, buy some games. They are doing BOGO free promo right now on the games. The phone is thicker due to the qwerty keyboard. The phone's interface is nicely designed. One small minus is that it has no 3.5mm phono jack. So you are forced to buy proprietary adapter to use a regular headphone. will report back on the mp3 player usability. Not sure if it is easy to add music files. I will need to get a special samsung data cable to do that. I could try bluetooth route but not sure if that's possible to transfer music files. This seller on Amazon offers the best deal on this phone airtime bundle right now. You can't beat it. 200min airtime card is $40. Tracfone's special deal is $60 without any airtime card included.
One more thing. you can adjust exposure and zoom when taking photo. Although using too much zoom makes the photo blurry.Until they get a decent android touch screen phone, this phone will suffice.

Looking for those 600 minutes? It is the piece of paper taped to the box, labeled "YOUR TRACFONE PIN." Yes, that is your 200 minute airtime card that will then triple to 600 minutes once added. Someone else helpfully mentioned that in their review and thankfully that was the only way I figured it out.
If you've never done this before, go to [...], then click Add Airtime, click Add Card Online, and then it will ask you to Enter Airtime PIN....well that is the number they want.
This phone is great so far. I bought it because I text a lot and wanted the qwerty keyboard, and so far it is very nice. The buttons work, it handles well, and is easy to use. I just wanted to give everyone a heads-up about how to access those minutes--that's why I spent the extra 30 bucks to get this, and when you open the package it seems like you've been cheated. You haven't---the seller just needs to more clearly label the airtime card.
